Happy New Year!

The fourth and final Monday this December brings with it another Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps.  For this winter scene I have mixed images from KSS' Cabin by the Lake Multi Step Clear Stamps with the Snowy Pine Trees Multi Step Clear Stamps. The "New Year" part of the sentiment comes from Greetings from the Woods Clear Stamps.

In my mind, this peaceful, rustic site looks like a fabulous place to start the new year!
Wishing you all health and happiness for 2016!

A Cardinal Christmas

Things are Christmas crazy around my house these days. I managed to whip out several major tasks: 60 Christmas cards made and sent, 10 dozen French cookies made and frozen, and 25 Christmas recipe scrapbook pages completed. But shopping, wrapping, and 48 scrapbook pages still await me! I need to kick things up a notch this week.

It was fun taking a break from all of those tasks to complete today's Let's Make a Scene card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. For today's design I included images from Winter Cardinals Multi Step Clear Stamps, Cabin by the Lake Multi Step Clear Stamps, Christmas Lights Multi Step Clear Stamps, Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps, and Greetings from the Woods Clear Stamps. To create the look of snow on the cabin roof, I did not ink the shingles on layer 4.

CCEE1550

Joanne is our hostess for the CCEE Stampers last challenge of 2015.  We will be taking a short break before returning in the New Year on January 7th.  So at this time we would all like to extend our wishes for a wonderful holiday season.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!!!

So.....here is this week's challenge.....

Did you know? There are occasional "Leap Seconds" added to the official year. They help to correct minor variations in time. On December 31, 2015, the folks who maintain the official time for the planet, will add an extra second to the day!  To honor this, the challenge for this week is to incorporate time into your card…..a clock, a calendar, a date, a watch, etc.

For my card I used images from Father's Pocket Watch Multi Step Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamps.

We would love for you to join us for the final challenge of 2015 and add a link to your card on the CCEE Stampers's Blog. Thanks to those of you who have played along with us this year! We loved seeing your wonderful creations!

Roof Over Your Head - CCEE1549

Today is National Roof Over Your Head Day.   It is a day to be thankful for those of us who are fortunate enough to have a safe home to live in AND to think about those around the world who do not.  To mark this day, our CCEE challenge today is to make a card with a house/building of some sort on it.

10 and 20 Minute Poinsettias - KSS

I am getting busy today on more Christmas cards. I really need to get mine finished and in the mail this week so I can move on to more pressing Christmas projects like scrapbook and recipe pages for our families' yearly albums. I will be scrapping 12 sets of 4 different pages for my family members this year for a total of 48 scrapbook pages. I will be scrapping 20 sets of recipe pages (front and back) for members of my husband's family. That makes a grand total of 88 pages! Yikes! I'm sure glad I work FAST!!

The 10 Minutes and 10 Minutes More designs for Kitchen Sink Stamps feature the beautiful Poinsettia Multi Step Clear Stamps. On both cards the poinsettias were stamped, cut out, and popped up on the card front.

This is the color recipe I used on the flowers:

Poinsettia: Layer 5 - Memento Rhubarb Stalk stamped twice, Layer 4 - Memento Rhubarb Stalk, Layer 3 - Memento Lady Bug, Layer 2 Memento Love Letter, and I omitted Layer 1

Gold microbeads were glued to the center of each flower.

Leaves: Layer 1, 2, and 3 - Memento Bamboo Leaves, Layer 4 Memento Olive Grove

CCEE 1548 - Black Friday

Today is Thanksgiving in the USA and tomorrow is Black Friday. Many will be taking advantage of the sales. Our November hostess, Frances, has asked that the CCEE Stampers create a card with a shopping theme. The card must also include the color black on it somewhere.

My card pretty much sums up my shopping philosophy be it shoes, pants, blouses, whatever! If it fits, is comfortable, and looks good, buy it in every color available!

All stamp images are Stampin' Up!

Universal Children's Day - CCEE 1547

Tomorrow is Universal Children's Day. Frances, our November CCEE hostess, has asked that we create a card featuring a child having fun of some type.

When I was a child, the most fun I had involved trips to the library where I loaded up on books which took me on amazing adventures all over the world! What a blessing reading has been to my life! So much so that my life's work was teaching children to read by sharing my love for books with them. I never taught from a basal reader, but always from the amazing world of children's literature! Hopefully, that love for reading has served them well.

Sesame Street Day at CCEE Stampers

On  November 10th Sesame Street celebrated 46 years on television. To honor this great show for its years of contributions to the entertainment and education of young children, Frances has asked the CCEE Stampers to create a card inspired by the show … It could feature any of the characters from the show; something related to a character like a garbage bin or cookies; or feature a letter of the alphabet etc.

My stamp collection doesn't contain any Sesame Street characters so I created this famous duo with my punches!

Circles, Circles Everywhere!! CCEE1545

Our November CCEE hostess, Frances, has us running around in circles this week! I went with a fun easy way to use up scraps to make a bright and colorful birthday card! I hope you like it. I punched  circles in all colors and sizes and glued them to my black front panel before embossing it with my circle embossing folder. Lastly, I added a sentiment and bow to create this simple birthday design.

CCEE 1544 - Down Under

This week our Australian hostess, Maryann,  has asked the CCEE Stampers to end our October challenges by using something down under. She says it is not necessary to have something Australian; it can be under the sea, or a tree or underground or under an umbrella.

Bushels of Thanks - KSS Let's Make a Scene

This week's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps was created for the Hope You Can Cling To event at Splitcoaststampers. It was inspired by hostess Holly Brown wo chose as her theme "Bunches of Thanks" which brought to my mind bushels of mums for autumn.

I started with the three baskets of mums across the bottom of the card front and then masked them to add the truck. I then masked the truck to sponge in the road and grass and sky. The leaves for the birch tree where stamped next. I stamped the tree trunks on computer paper and cut them out to mount over the sponged sky.

The sentiment was computer generated and then punched out with an oval punch and mounted on another decorative punched piece.

Lastly, I stamped and fussy cut another basket of mums to pop up on the bottom right corner of the card.

What a great way to spend a lazy, rainy Saturday morning! This card is going to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas to be used by a cancer patient there. I hope it brings them a little joy and comfort!

Warm Autumn Hugs

Since October 1st I have been taking part in Hope You Can Cling To at Splitcoaststampers. All cards created for this great annual event go to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for use by their patients and the's patients families.

Today's Let's Make a Scene card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps was created for SCS's First Class-No Extra Postage challenge. In other words, flat for easy mailing. It is headed out this week along with my first dozen cards created for this year's HYCCT challenges to MD Anderson. I hope it goes to someone needing a warm autumn hug and brings them comfort.

I am also entering it in the Mod Squad Get Your Fall On Challenge. Don't forget that Kitchen Sink Stamps will be a sponsor of the Mod Squad Challenge next week (third Wednesday) with one lucky entry winning a $25 gift certificate to the Kitchen Sink Stamps store!
